Bowling for Columbine

Do you hate Michael Moore or do you love him? He is a watchdog in American politics, without a doubt. What did you learn from this film? What are some of the questions this film poses? Give two specific examples of the subculture of violence in American that Moore presents.

Write at least two paragraphs responding to these questions and to any other thoughts this film inspired. (Mike, Kyle can write as much as he wants... I encourage it!)

We don't really hate Michael Moore but we definitely don't love him either. He makes some really good points but at times his views are very one-sided. He also tends to twist the truth to prove his point and often leaves out information or footage that would work against him. He's showing only what he wants to show.
In watching the film, we learned that Columbine was very influenced by the big weapon factory that was nearby. We didn't know the background of the town before watching the film.
Some of the questions this film poses are why there is so much violence in America versus other countries, and why the media only focuses on the negative, producing more fear in Americans than already exists.
The Michigan Militia is one of the subcultures Moore presents in the film, by going and visiting with them. Another is the impoverished community of Flint, Michigan. Many of the adults in the town had to leave everyday to a job that barely payed them enough to survive.

We really liked what Sam said about the necessity to make the movie one-sided to get a point across and to put a limit on the length of the movie.
